Howard Bryant, the author had one main thing to point out in this book: steroids tainted an era in America's sport. He showed this through many different angles but the two main ones were through former players and statistics of the era. Through both of these it was obvious something unnatural occured. Players were gained weight and muscle faster than naturally possible. Average players were hitting 30 or 40 home runs a year off of great pitchers. The pitchers statistics were at an all time low while the hitters statistics were at an all time high. The author also wanted to point out that the record books were destroyed as these cheaters cheated their way to history. You can tell that he is very passionate about the subject as he had all types of evidence to back it up. I think that the moral of this whole era and the book overall is that there is no shortcut to success. You either work hard and prevail and you cheat and end up at the bottom. The point is these guys only cheated themselves not baseball. Because of their poor choices they won't get into the hall of fame. There are plenty of guys that did it right that will get in and deserving the honor.
